Please Read!
I wouldn't necessarily call these posts reviews! I wouldn't call myself a music expert either, though I'd like to think I'm somewhat knowledgeable. I'd say this is more like a personal journal of my travels through my vast music library in an attempt to keep myself amused. It's really just writings about my reactions to the music than a judgement of the quality. Since I'm doing these daily, I'll usually listen through maybe once or twice, write out a short little blurb and move on!

I guess they call it noise rock for a reason. I just call it noise and HEALTH's self-titled debut is just that. On the first listen the entire album seemed to just run through as one track to me but maybe I'm just not cool enough to understand this type of music. I may sound like a closed-minded POS right now, but you know what, I'm really not. Contrary to what you might think at this point, I did not absolutely hate this album. On the other hand, it also didn't change my life. While listening, I found myself staring off into the distance with an empty, half-confused look on my face that seemed to kind of just go, "hmmmmm..." It's just so chaotic and it goes by quickly, with the album being a mere 29 minutes short. I'm obviously not an expert when it comes to this style of music, but all I know is that it's sometimes good to have something different that changes things up from my normal music-listening routines. Even as I write this I continue to listen to the pounding noise invading my ears. It really does continue to grow on me, but invade is probably the most appropriate term here.
Verdict: LISTEN. It's not something I'd put on for a drive down the coast or a nice relaxing walk, but perhaps it's more suited for laying around on my bed after a long day of work or class when your head's in that weird place that can't be described. I don't love it, but I don't love Eraserhead either, yet I still get myself up to watch it for some reason.
